Colorado Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses

Colorado Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses (CAPPN), formerly known as CSCSPN, was formed in 1978 to advance the practice and recognition of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and to further the provision of quality behavioral health services in Colorado. Psychiatric-Mental Health Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) make a unique contribution to behavioral healthcare in Colorado and function in a variety of roles and settings as psychotherapists/psychoanalysts, prescribers, consultants, educators, advocates, researchers, academicians, and administrators. We demonstrate advanced knowledge and refined expertise in applying this knowledge in psychiatric mental health nursing practice.

We work within the public and private sectors and with elected officials to expand behavioral health programs, promote inclusive behavioral health services and improve access to behavioral health care for underserved areas and populations.

As members of CAPPN, we advocate for and provide high quality, comprehensive, compassionate, accessible and cost-effective behavioral health care throughout Colorado.
