ANA/CNA experience (current & past):

No experience other than a member. Utilize many of the CNA resources.

Please describe experience with governance, management, public speaking, and/or financial management.:

Currently responsible for the operational budget at EPH. I am also the COO, therefore have all but four departments that report to me. Have been responsible for operational budgets since 2008 in my variety of roles. I have help many management roles over the years in nursing. I have worked to expand my nursing skill set by taking on departments that I wasn't an expert in, utilizing other leadership skills to leverage the talent on my team for the expertise, while utilizing leadership tactics. I have held leadership positions within my church, partnered with the UNC School of Nursing and the student nurses, and currently in CONL. I enjoy public speaking, at board meetings, community and in the last year, in front of our legislators. That was such an honor to represent nursing.

1) Please describe what members should know about why you seek being elected to this office or position?:

I have always wanted to be a nurse, I believe it is a servant role that I have been called to and I wouldn't want to do anything else. We have an opportunity to find our voice a bit differently after the pandemic and with the four-five generations in nursing. We, as a profession, will set the standard for ourselves. I am seeking this position as I feel called in my career, after 36 years as a nurse, to give back in a different way. I have really enjoyed my board with CONL and will continue if re-elected. It was an honor to speak in front of our legislators regarding nursing and the facility bill. I was quite taken back by the lack of knowledge and understanding of the complexity of healthcare by our state leaders. We need to get our voice out there, louder, ensuring that we are heard with all the legislation in the works.

2) What priorities do you see for CNA at this time?:

Recruitment of nurses, our younger generations and maybe re-recruit nurses we have lost due to the pandemic.

Getting our voices heard at the legislation level. Many times the bills are addressing finance alone, and not considering the impact that law will have on our patients and their families. That is our voice, we know!

Solidifying our professional requirements so we are consistent within our own profession.

3) As a potential member of the CNA Board of Directors you have a Duty of Loyalty to CNA. That Duty of Loyalty is defined as being able to put the interests of CNA above any others. Please indicate if you have a real or potential Conflict of Interest personally or financially that may impact your ability to vote on select CNA business.:
