Current position held and experiences with change leadership.:

Currently the OR Manager at UCHealth Memorial North OR. I was an ANM and OR specialty coordinator at UCHealth Memorial Central. I helped fill open positions, streamlined schedules to balance OR demands, developed and wrote several operational workflows implemented regionally, and the current trended turnover is less than 4% in my OR.

ANA/CNA experience (current & past):

I am a lifetime member of AORN, giving me a dual membership in ANA. I recently joined ANA/CNA after getting involved with my organization's nursing advocacy group. Staying current on legislation and activities that impact the profession of nursing is so essential and membership in this organization will enhance my understanding and ability to advocate for the nursing profession.

Please describe experience with governance, management, public speaking, and/or financial management.:

I've been in OR management for the last three years. I participate with our unit practice council, magnet collaboration board, system OR practice council, and nurse manager council. I have been speaking publically since the age of three. My church offered public speaking opportunities early on as members give sermons and talks weekly. I have given presentations for my BSN and Master's programs. I manage 103 FTEs and my current operating budget for the OR is over one million dollars.

1) Please describe what members should know about why you seek being elected to this office or position?:

I have been a nurse for twenty years. I am a third-generation nurse in my family. I am passionate about process improvement and employee engagement. Advocacy is new for me. Participating with the Colorado Nurses' Association Board of Directors will help broaden my understanding of issues impacting nurses in Colorado and expand my professional network.

2) What priorities do you see for CNA at this time?:

1. Promoting the nursing profession in schools through outreach programs and presentations.

2. Partnering with nursing schools to help nurses find jobs and augment nursing education.

3. Taking stances on issues or bills that impact nursing, hospitals, and the ability to provide adequate healthcare to the citizens of Colorado.
