DNP,MSN,RN

Current position held and experiences with change leadership.:

Faculty Manager for Nightingale College of Nursing

Senior Manager Relief position, PRN float pool as PCU,Med-surg and Emergency Department nurse.

My DNP was focused on Executive Nursing Leadership. In my program, there was emphasis on change leadership. As a faculty manager, I advocate for faculty assignments and time constraints to successfully provide students with the knowledge they need on an online platform. My vision of building communities where nurses can thrive in their own environments is evident in my involvement with on ground clinical facilitation in rural areas and underserved communities.

ANA/CNA experience (current & past):

I have served as the Region 1 Director for the past 2 years and attend GAPP meetings on a regular basis. Even though Region 1 has been inactive, I remain open to encourage nurses to be members of CNA. I talk to nurses when I work in the hospital and encourage them to speak up when they feel unsafe. I manage staffing and bed placement at my hospital job and ensure I collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership.

Please describe experience with governance, management, public speaking, and/or financial management.:

My involvement with GAPP has helped me stay current with healthcare issues that are being discussed on local and state levels. I read nursing magazines and listen to nurses' concerns. I am a current board member for Sigma Theta XI chapter on my membership where we discuss nursing education needs and how to support Nightingale College of Nursing. I am involved in the hiring process for our faculty and lead monthly faculty meetings for my function of 50+ faculty members. In addition I coach faculty and work with them to meet the organizational metrics. I ensure faculty do not work over time unless approved by leadership to ensure financial stability of the organization.

1) Please describe what members should know about why you seek being elected to this office or position?:

I am a very compassionate person and love nursing. I have been a nurse for 33 years and have served in different roles from charge nurse position, mentor, nurse manager, director of nursing and my current role as Faculty manager really helps me focus on the bigger picture of health care advocacy.

2) What priorities do you see for CNA at this time?:

Healthy Care advocacy remains the number 1 priority for CNA. Safe staffing, nursing resiliency programs to support our front line nurses, nursing education and safe patient handling are all priorities.

3) As a potential member of the CNA Board of Directors you have a Duty of Loyalty to CNA. That Duty of Loyalty is defined as being able to put the interests of CNA above any others. Please indicate if you have a real or potential Conflict of Interest personally or financially that may impact your ability to vote on select CNA business.:

I do not have a real or potential conflict as a potential member of the CNA Board of Directors who has a Duty of Loyalty to CNA.
