Join Internal Family Systems, a model developed by Richard Schwartz, PhD, is a non-pathologizing approach that is compassionate and experiential. It gives a way to understand and work with our triggers, which we can react to despite our best efforts to respond differently. IFS uses the idea that we have parts that cause symptoms, which have developed because of our life experiences. It taps into the person's own ability to heal. IFS assumes that our parts are doing their best to be helpful and treats all parts with kindness, curiosity and compassion. Please Join Mary Ann and CAPPN for a discussion about IFS to learn about its principles, use in therapy and overall utility as a psychotherapeutic model.

Mary Ann Bolkovatz has been a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist for 41 years. She has been trained in all three levels of Internal Family Systems work and believes in and has experienced its healing capacity as a modality in both her clients and herself.
