AACN Offers Free Access to Adolescent SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment

With funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, NORC at the University of Chicago is working with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the Council on Social Work Education, the Center for Clinical Social Work and their technology partner Kognito to disseminate adolescent screening, brief intervention , and referral to treatment (SBIRT) curriculum in nursing, social work, and inter-professional education programs.

This opportunity is open to Nurse Preceptors at placement sites of Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Nursing education programs. Nurse Preceptors will learn how to administer SBIRT with adolescents for use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Participants receive free, unlimited access to Kognito’s SBI with Adolescents simulation through 9/30/17, access to free adolescent SBIRT resources, and free continuing education credits (CEs) with a certificate of completion. These are the requirements for Participation:

  • ·         Serve as a Nurse Preceptor at a placement site for a Nursing or Social Work education program (Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral)
  • ·         Complete the online application.
  • ·         Complete Kognito’s SBI with Adolescents simulation program
  • ·         Complete a brief follow-up survey
  • Free access to Adolescent SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment)curriculum, resources, and continuing education credits to nurse preceptors at placement sites of bachelor's, master's or doctoral programs. This resource is only available until September 30 with limited space. Complete the online application and access the free training and continuing education credits. Space is limited.
