Racism and Oppression in Health Care
In recognition of th
e deleterious effects of racial disparities in health care, SIG 31 and the
Colorado Nurses Association is sponsoring a virtual presentation entitled:
Checking our Vital Signs: Racism & Oppression in Health Care, a
web-based training that will take place on January 19, 2021 from 6 to 9 PM
. There is no cost to attend this event but you must register and
space is limited.
We are pleased and honored to have presenters who
have a depth of experience training health care professionals using an Inte
rcultural Development Continuum and a program they have developed to help u
s identify and think through ways of addressing systemic oppression both in
our internal experience and our professional roles. The presenters are led
by Ms. Deran Young, LCSW, MSW, MPA, who has vast experience in intersectio
nal mental health, diversity, social justice, and organizational behavior.
She is an innovative leader, social worker, and activist. She has global cl
inical experience with a work history that spans the United States, Europe,
Africa, and Asia. She and her team will bring the Intercultural Developmen
t Continuum training to Colorado Nurses. Please join us for this wonderful
opportunity to explore the topic of racial disparities from the inside out.
Register early, space is limited.
